Thanksgiving recap and analysis

This Thursday we as Americans partook in a tradition that involved stuffing ourselves with food, and watching grown men run into each other for 9 hours. Well I'm here to analyze the football, there were 3 games on Thursday. In the early game the Texans eked out a win over the Lions on a very controversial call that practically gave the Texans the game. In the next game the Redskins fought off the struggling Cowboys under RGIII 4 touchdown passes, and in the prime time game the Jets proved just how bad they are with a beat down from their abusive daddy Bill Belichick and his Pats.
All these games had some serious implications in the playoff picture, and some signs for the future. So let us start with the dismal Jets and their 49-19 loss to the Patriots. This game was dominated start to finish by New England. This game got so bad that after the Pats had scored 21 points in one minute. Fireman Ed, the iconic mascot for the Jets, left the game. This Jets team is 4-7 with a mathematical chance to go to the postseason, but if they play the way they did I think the Chiefs and Eagles could hand them a beat down. So I believe after the Jets fall on their face the rest of the way and go 6-10, 5-11, Rex Ryan will be out of a Job and the Jets will be looking at which QB to draft. Maybe Mark Sanchez can find a home with the Jags, or some other scrub team. Maybe even the Browns.
Well after all those negatives let's look at the positive side of this blowout. Tom Brady proved that he doesn't need Rob Gronkowski, the Patriots will now legitimately threaten the Texans for home-field advantage and the Patriots just own the Jets. I still have the Pats not losing a game the rest of the way, but i think the Texans with a 2-game lead can hold them off.
While we are on the Texans let us talk about their close OT 34-31 win over the Lions. The Texans almost lost to an inferior team again on their way to a 10-1 record. Their defense looked dismal against a Lions team that hasn't exactly dazzled anybody with their scoring prowess, but Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub bailed out the defenses shortcomings. The Texans have looked shaky to say the least on teams they should be handling with relative ease, and their top spot in the AFC will be in jeopardy if they keep playing the way they have.
All the Lions have to say after their loss is "robbed", and yes the Lions were robbed. They were up by 7 in the 4th when they appeared to have stopped a play for a 5 yard game, but the Texan spun up and ran it to the house, TOUCHDOWN, on video evidence it was fairly clear he was down, so Jim Schwartz in a screaming rage throws the challenge flag on a play that is automatically reviewed. This incites a 15-yard unsportsman like penalty, and under NFL rule makes the inevitable review nullified. So touchdown. This rule of course has no sense and talks of it being changed are already underway by the NFL, but Schwartz should have controlled his temper and held that red flag. So this little fit sums up the disappointing Lions season who are 4-7, and shows how lucky the Texans are at 10-1.
The Redskins a.k.a RG3, won a huge game against NFC east rival Dallas 38-31. RG3 had 4 TD passes, and looked really good. Of course the Cowboys came out flat again, but Washington is not Cleveland and they couldn't fight their way back for a win. For the Redskins this proves my point(last blog) that they are legit contenders in the NFC east. If RG3 plays like this week on MNF in week 12 versus the Giants, and the Giants lose to the Packers, they will be tied for the NFC east lead. My prediction is coming together nicely, remember you guys who called me crazy?
On the Cowboys side it just proved how unclutch they are. Dez Bryant dropped a TD pass in the last minute after the defense couldn't stop RG3 from putting his team into field goal range. This Dallas team has so much talent, but instead of finding ways to win they find ways to lose. they are 5-6 and well on their way to missing the Playoffs, when will Jerry Jones get a real GM?

So a recap, the Jets suck, Patriots are Elite, Texans are lucky, Lions are disappointing, Washington has the East in their grasp and Dallas is not clutch. Thanks for reading and remember i said it first, Redskins will WIN NFC East.

Playoff Projections

As week 12 in the NFL season approaches the playoff picture is becoming clearer everyday. Everybody has their own opinion on how this season is going to come to an end so I am going to lay down mine. Here is what I have as the seedings in the playoffs after the final whistle week 17.
  AFC                                                      NFC
1)Houston (14-2)                        1)Green Bay (13-3)
2)New England (13-3)               2)Atlanta (13-3)
3)Denver (13-3)                          3)San Fran (11-4-1)
4)Baltimore (11-5)                     4)Washington (10-6)
5)Indy (10-6)                              5) Chicago (12-4)
6)Cincinnati (10-6)                    6)New Orleans (11-5)

Now some of you are looking and noticing things like where is NYG or Pittsburgh, why is Green Bay number one seed. Now these are all valid questions that i have a perfectly good explanation for.
NYG MISSES POSTSEASON
I believe the New York Giants will limp to an 8-8 record after losing to a Bengals team that seemed lost at the time. They will lose to Green Bay, New Orleans, Washington and Atlanta to go to 6-8 and then eek out a game to Baltimore and Philly to finish 8-8. I truly believe that Eli is struggling to much for this team to stay afloat with a tough schedule in front of them. So 8-8 for the defending super bowl champs leaving the team to wonder who they are.
PITTSBURGH MISSES POSTSEASON
Another thing that some people will question, especially steelers fans, why the Black and Gold will miss the postseason. Well with an unknown injury to Big Ben that could limit him once he returns if he ever does the Steelers Offense will be too weak. I believe they lose to Cleveland and then Baltimore  w/o Big Ben. They will then defeat the Chargers and Dallas upon Ben's return, but then lose to a surging young Bengals with tons of momentum, then just as consolation they will hand Cleveland their 11th loss on the year in week 17 and finish with a winning record of 9-7. But it won't be enough to catch the young Bengals and Colts.
NFC PICTURE ALTOGETHER
I have the Packers being the one seed because they have momentum out the wazoo and they are just plain good. I think San Fransisco will lose out on a first round bye because they will lose to the Saints this week. I think Drew Brees takes New Orleans to 11-5 and the postseason, and i think RG3 can win the NFC EAST.
PLAYOFFS
So let's look at the postseason, in the AFC you have Cincy @ Denver and Indy @ Baltimore. I believe the division winners will win these games, for Peyton Manning is beast and i don't think the Colts are ready for a Postseason win. So that means that Denver will play New England and Baltimore will play Houston. I think that Denver defeats the Pats in a fierce game and Houston easily handles the old, rusty Ravens, So that means a Denver vs. Houston showdown in the AFC championship. I have the Broncos edging out the Texans all because of your soon to be league MVP Peyton Manning.
In the NFC you have New Orleans @ San Fransisco and Chicago @ Washington. I have New Orleans upsetting San Fran and Chicago easily handling Washington. So that means we have A Green Bay vs. New Orleans showdown in which the Packers will end the Saints magical comeback from 0-4 and Chicago vs. Atlanta, two teams that have struggled once they got in the postseason in which i have Atlanta defeating the Bears as Jay Cutler throws another Fit on the field. That leaves a Packers vs. Falcons championship game in which I have Atlanta winning in close close fashion.
SUPER BOWL
So it will be an Atlanta Falcons vs. Denver Broncos super bowl in New Orleans where the Denver Broncos will win a tough fought battle under MVP Peyton Manning and John Elway will get to hold up another Lombardi trophy. Denver will treat Peyton as a God and Matt Ryan, Tony Gonzalez in company will have to wait another year to hold the silver football.

Why Aj Green is Best in NFL

Aj Green is a 2nd year wide reciever out of georgia university selected 4th overall in the draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He wears number 18, he catches balls from fellow Sophmore player Andy Dalton, and he is the best reciever in the NFL. Many would disagree but i have absolute undeniable truths that will reveal why this man, this 6 foot 4 inch man is the best reciever in the NFL, and will be one of the, if not the, greatest reciever of all time.
The number one indicator of any player in this leauge of how good they are is usually their statistics. Many hold this beleif to be true, so this is probably the best arguement for Aj Green's Validity. Aj has 58 receptions, 820 yards, and 9 touchdowns in 9 games so far this year. These numbers are impressive indeed, but lets compare them, He is 6th in the leauge in yardage, 9th in the leauge in receptions and 1st in recieving touchdowns. So the numbers dont actually say he is the best, but being top 10 in every category certainly helps. These numbers dont take into consideration the quarterbacks, type of coverage, number 2 recievers and spectacular catches.
So let's compare these things to the rest of the top-flight recievers. Let us start with his quarterback, the Red Rifle Andy Dalton. I honestly think that Aj Green has made Andy Dalton a solid consistent NFL quarterback. Andy can just throw it up there and Aj will catch it. So let's take a look at the other top-flight recievers quarterbacks, We will use Calvin Johnson Jr., Victor Cruz, Reggie Wayne and Brandon Marshall as our comparison recievers. Megatron has Matt Stafford tossing him the ball, need i remind you that Matt Stafford threw for 5,038 yards last year, Victor Cruz has two-time Super Bowl champ Eli Manning tossing him the ball, Reggie Wayne may be the only one on this list at a bigger disadvantage than Aj with rookie Andrew Luck tossing him the ball, and finally Marshall who has established "elite" quarterback Jay Cutler tossing the sugar. So out of the other top-flight recievers Aj Greens quarterback is either the worst or tied for worst.
Let us now compare the coverage and secondary recievers, Aj Green faces about the tightest coverage in the NFL sice he is A) really good B) cincy has no run game and C) There is no other reciever in cincy. The best secondary reciever in Cincy is Jermaine Gresham the tight end who has 37 rec, 448 yds, and 3 TD. That is not going to distract from the monster that is Aj Green. Now let's look at Megatron, he too attracts a lot of attention sice his best secondary reciever is on the IR (Nate Burleson) and Detroit also has no running game, but his TD's have significantly dropped because of that. Victor Cruz has Hakeem Nicks on his side and a solid run game, his team help is much better than Aj Green's or Megatron which softens the coverage on him significantly. Reggie Wayne has Donnie Avery to his side and a below average run game so coverage is tight on him but his TD's have also dropped significantly. Finally Brandon Marshall whose best secondary threat is Alshon Jeffery and Devin Hester but Matt Forte is keeping the coverage pretty soft for BM. So looking back if a player does have as much coverage as Aj their stats, mainly TD's, have dropped significantly, If they have some insurance like a running game or another reciever or both their stats have been even with Aj. So Aj has as good or better stats than recievers with insurance when he himself has none.Pretty Impressive.
Now the best part about recievers, amazing catches and talent. Aj Green has made more spectacular catches in his 2 year career than most recievers make in a lifetime, his hands are really soft and he runs routes well. He has shown he can be a possesion guy and a big play threat, he can be in the slot too he also blocks well. He is just all-around good and dangerous for defenses. He makes catches on balls other recievers wouldn't even get too.
These are the reasons why Aj is the best, his stats are as good if not better than the others and he handles the most coverage out of all of them, he has the "worst" QB out of all of them and again Cincy has no run game. Aj is already the best and he is probably going to get better, if injury doesnt hurt his career than he has a chance to be the greatest reciever of all time. His spot in the hall of fame is sealed in my mind, and Jerry Rice here comes Abriahl Jeremiah Green.
